My game has gotten to the point where players are getting / creating magic items that have multiple abilities. IE, boots that are "Boots Of Haste" AND "Boots of the Winterland" or "Belt of Giant Strength" AND "Belt of the Dwarvenkind" for example. I tried to find a way in the standard Hero Lab to add an item like this to a character and could not find it.

So my first question is did I miss something and this is possible?

And the second question is if not possible, where can I find details on adding custom items to Hero Lab such that I can then add these to characters. I would think this level of Hero Lab customization would not be that difficult as it is only combining the data / code / whatever from existing items that are already there. I'm not looking to create complete brand new items. Just merge existing items together.

Any pointers or help appreciated.

Creating new items means that you will need to use the Editor. Once you have created the items you will save them to a new file. You can then distribute this file to your players.

I've done a lot of this and for most items it's quite simple. In the editor, "copy" the main item that you want and give it a new name, then load a copy of the second item, and duplicate the text, and other tab info. Then save, test and you have you new items!

Look at the sticky post "General Hero Lab Support & Community Resources" at the top of the PF Forum - it has links to editing resources, and you-tube videos. The Help section in the editor is also worthwhile.

I guess I assumed to carry over the "benefits" you get from equipping an item you'd have to do more than copy the text? IE, getting the +6 from a strength belt in addition to the bonues from the dwarven kind belt?

Don't forget you can only copy things from the Core Rulebook.

By "copy the text", he means copy the text in all of the fields. That would include the various scripts and tags. :-)

Okay, was able to create my new Belt item as a test and it works! Not just cut and pasting, but mostly that.
