Equipment List Management

I could swear there is a way to manage equipment lists (i.e. which items are stored in a backpack, whether a sidearm is holstered, etc.) but I can't seem to find the feature.

Is there a way to filter items into a container, until it is pulled out and used?

Subject is not very descriptive, but that seems to be the issue.

Yeah, my character is now perpetually encumbered unless I just delete equipment and weapons.
