I guess this goes to Colen, don't know if they've been mentioned yet
or not...

Bugs so far:

1. Destroyer tank hunter's weapon comes up as S10, Ordnance;
should be S9, Heavy 1/Blast. Looks like an error in the base.40k

2. Salamander Command Vehicle doesn't register as an HQ for
attaching other units (like sentinels) or as the sole HQ choice.

3. Executioner Tank's Plasma Destroyer doesn't appear at the bottom
of the list in the weapons summary. (The weapon's not in the
base.40k? Sorry can't remember where I fixed the problem)

Well, I fixed the freeze problem (it did have something to do with
the size of the options, the new download spotted the error rather
than freezing).

Now, I have a new problem... which really confuses me. The conflict
groups won't work. Anything that is in the same conflict group
(defined in my datadef as, for instance: "Gun | 1 | | ") can be
repeatedly chosen. i.e. any of my squads can choose as many
different kinds of weapons as they want. This is true for all my
conflict groups, not that specific one.

I have no idea what could be causing this. I'll outline some steps to try
to isolate the problem in a private email, since this might take some
effort to figure out.

Hey! I thought that my idea was at least a LITTLE better - at least from
the user's perspective. :-)

Now, I admit my idea wasn't "scathingly brilliant". Heck, it doesn't even
qualify as mediocre. :-) But it didn't require the as much hoop-junping for
the user. :-)

Just nitpicking.... :-> It's been a weird last couple of days.....

Not at all. Please keep the site going. Links to your site will continue to
remain prominently on the site.

>If so, let me know, because I get about 1000 hits a week and will need to

The links aren't moving. They are all in the exact same places. Files
without permission (i.e. GW) are on eGroups and everything else is on the
Wolf Lair site. You can grab them and re-host them just like always, or you
can simply setup links directly to them if that's easier for you.

>BTW...thanks for the heads up about the datafiles...waste of my time
>updating my webpages if you are the only source now for the datafiles
>now...*sigh*

Er, redundancy is GOOD on the web. :-)

The main people that will be affected by this change are those that usually
retrieve their data files from Colen's repository on eGroups and rely on
the AB-Files list for notification. Those are NOT the folks that usually
retrieve files from YOUR site. Consequently, I don't envision this
impacting your site to any significant extent right now.

When V2.1 is released, people may start switching to some of the new stuff
that will be added then, but I really don't know for sure, and that's not
until V2.1 goes out.

Hope this helps,
Rob

Not at present. Updates are not occurring all THAT often. And you don't
HAVE to go look at the list of updates when you launch AB. AB tracks when
you last LOOKED at the list of updates. Anything that has changed since you
last looked will be flagged as new until you look again. It only takes a
few seconds to click on the menu bar, scan the first few entries (i.e. the
new ones) for anything of interest, and then exit if you don't find
anything you like. And you can let them queue up for as long as you want
before looking. :-)

The only time the display is a nuisance is the very first time you use it,
at which point you've got a long list to wade through that's not in a very
useful order for finding what you want. I'll address this in the next release.

Thanks, Rob

Glad to hear the freezing problem is fixed. :-)

Have you properly assigned all of the options to the "Gun" conflict group?
For conflict groups to work, you have to (a) define the group and its limit
within the definition file, (b) assign all appropriate options to be a part
of that conflict group, and (c) attach all of those options to a unit.

If you continue having problems with this, take a look at the Tutorial data
files (data.tut). The Spear and Secodn Weapon options belong to the same
conflict group "Wep", which is limited to a single selection. This will
hopefully provide a useful example so you can see what might be amiss in
your files.

Thanks, Rob

Okay, well that tells me its a problem with Army Builder, not the
creator, because when I load the tutorial into Army Builder, it
allows me to select both a spear and a second weapon for a unit of
elven infantry.

I'm using V2.0d with the Tutorial files. I create a roster of Elves. I add
a unit of Light Infantry. I click on Spear and Second Weapon is disabled. I
uncheck Spear. I then click on Second Weapon and Spear is disabled.
Everything is behaving correctly for me.

Please point me to the problem you are seeing.

Thanks, Rob

Which of course is what I had just done when I posted that question. I'm
sure it won't be that much of a hassle, now that I've cleared the list.

Is there a way to flag a validation error if I take the option for
one unit but not all? Assume I have the option assign a type:Mist.
I'd like the army to contain 0% type Mist, or 100% type Mist. I
couldn't really figure out how to do this with trat: or tlmt:
Maybe it's not possible?

Russell.

I notice that with the LR Crusader although in the Unit Options it lists
"linked assault cannon" it does not list it in the "options" to the left
with the rest of the stats, and as a result the weapon does not show in
the weapon summary for your army, or with the unit in your printed roster.
Is this possible?

While I don't like the approach where the option must be selected for every
unit, it's the only way to solve the problem in a validated fashion. I
don't like it because it is a ROYAL nuisance for the user. :-)

However, if you are going to implement it that way, the best solution I can
come up with is as follows:

1. When the spell is selected for the Druid, assign him the type "Mist".
2. For all units in the army, have the option available for selection.
3. For all units in the army, use a "must" attribute with a min=1 and an
"istype=Mist". This ensures that the option is selected for everyone if the
Druid takes the spell.
4. Do the same as #3 with a max=0 and an "istype=!Mist". This ensures that
the option is NOT selected by anyone if the Druid does not take the spell.

Hope this helps,
Rob
