Hello everyone,
When making settings for SW is there a way to have them as set up check marks, IE in D&D you can pick which books the character material is pulled from.

I would like to start using SW, I think for a few games such as the MARS setting but also some conversions such as Justifiers, Star Gate and maybe Star Wars or Star Trek to name a few but I would not want to have the content open from every setting just the ones for each game.

So has anyone that has set up data info for SW done this or have ideas of how to do this?

Thanks

Sean

Good Morning,

There absolutely is. We've been using it for a while. What you do, is when you create your user file for your setting, after you create your first thing....race, edge, skill, power....whatever.... down at the bottom of the center of the Editor screen is an optioned labeled "Source" with a button labeled "Edit" to the right of it.

Select that button, and a list of 'Sources' will come up. As you are adding a new source, select the -New Source- checkbox, and then OK. A new window will appear stating "Add new Source" at the top with three fiends to be filled in.

Source Name:
Source Unique ID:
Parent Source:

Source Name: is the full name of the setting you are entering. Clould be "Sundered Skies", "Deadlands: The Flood", etc. This is what appears in the previous list, as well as in the character configuration screen.

Source Unique ID - this is a 10 character unique ID of the setting. If this is not unique to other user files, all user content will be 'quarrantined' until the issue is fixed. Try and make it as unique as possible, but also memorable. This will also be used when you go to Preclude things from your setting.

Parent Source: states where in the list of Sources your setting will appear. I think the general concensus of those of us creating files is to use "UserParent" here.

Now...for everything that you create for your setting...if it is specific to ONLY that setting, check the setting you have created as the Source. When you go to create a character, if the Source is not selected, the content that is labeled for that source only, won't appear until you check the source box in the configure screen.

Comprende?
