haste only gives melee extra attack but not ranged

What's the reload speed of the ranged weapon you're seeing this on? If it's not at free action reloads, there could be a limit on the number of shots you can take in a round that's being applied as a limit to how many attacks haste can add, because the full attack required to get the most out of haste has to be interrupted to reload.

perfect. somewhat convoluted at first, but reload speed makes sense now on how it affects haste. changed pistol to revolver (which needs reloading as move action every 6 rounds, or free action with rapid reload feat).
