Has anyone gotten CardVault to run with Wine in Linux? CardVault
seems to install fine, but trying to run it results in a dialog "Failed to access pre-defined resources.". Thanks, Sten |

Is the message from Wine or CardVault? Cardvault does require the MSXML Libraries to be installed. Does Wine support these? Does Wine support a Registry? I'm guessing here, but I've been a programmer for more than 20 years so I'm trying to use best guess knowledge. No, I don't use linux more than occasionally. |

After looking at the source code, it appears that the error message you
quoted occurs when CV cannot load resources that should reside within the executable. Obviously, that should never happen. In fact, that's one of the few messages that I would find surprising under Wine. Did you install CV normally and then try it? Or did you manually copy things into place at some point (or move CV to a different folder). Did you use the latest V1.0b version? I'm grasping at straws here, since I don't have a Linux machine to test with. Please give me as much detail as possible and I'll strive to think of something to suggest. 1. The message is from CV.
2. CV should NOT require MSXML in any way, shape, or form. What situation prompted this claim? Is there something I didn't think of? Please help me to understand, since there should be no reliance on MSXML. 3. Wine is supposed to be a "complete" port of Windows under Linux. Army Builder runs fine under Linux, so I had assumed that CV would also. However, I never actually tried it (for lack of a Linux machine). I would LIKE CV to run properly under Linux, so please let me know if anyone uncovers something specific that can be addressed within V1.1 to correct any existing problems. Wine doesn't necessarily behave exactly like Windows, since it is a reimplementation of Windows APIs that sometimes has to be bug-for-bug compatible. ![]() under Wine. Do you have any idea what data I might be able to collect that would be of use to you? I appreciate your interest in having it work properly, but from a personal perspective it isn't a pressing issue - while I prefer using Wine, I also have Win4Lin for circumstances like this, and Card Vault is running quite nicely there. ![]() Thanks, Sten -- De Gubernaculo Venimus et Adservirevos Volumus - Proposed motto for the Federal government |
