Hey folks,
I'm new to this and I have a question. I found a copy of the Fairy MEat file that someone created a while ago. I want to use it as a base and add the two new books to it. The problem I've run into, and can't find any documentation on, is that I can't add the new attribute of 'armor' to the units. How can I do this? OK, I've never seen the Fairy Meat files, so I'm going to assume the existing charcters don't have an armour stat and the new ones do so you want to add it... If that's not the case, please be more specific :-) To add a new stat to the files, you need to edit the definition file (datadef.fm - assuming the file extension is fm). First off, you need to turn it into a text file and to do that you need to use abundef. The doco for it is near the end of the ConstKit.rtf file. If the author has locked the definition file (which is fairly standard practice), you will not be able to "undef" the definition file which means you're stuck unless you can track down the original author and get either the original text version of the definition file or the password to unlock the file you currently have. Once you have the def file in text format, just open it up in notepad, find the existing stat definitions, copy one of the lines, check the doco mentioned above for the meaning of all of the fields - change the ones you need to change and then use abdef to recreate the datadef file. Cheers, Russell. ---- Russell Sparkes - rjs@inorbit.com - http://www.freecfm.com/r/rjs "Experience is what you get just after you needed it" - Unknown ------------------------ Yahoo! Thanx. It has a password, but the author didn't leave any notes telling us
who he is. I found an address garbled in the datadef file and shot a msg off to it. I hope its the right one or I'm going to have to start from scratch. Ugh! Well it popped up the same information I found earlier, but the e-mail
address is dead. Does anyone know Steven "Q-Ball" Quirk? His old e-mail address used to be eldar40k@aol.com.
