I answered this question just yesterday in response to one of your posts.
I've copied and pasted the answer below.... Viewing the card image is now part of the "View Card Details" form. You can toggle between which of the two viewing methods you prefer. You can cycle through cards just like V1.2. You can therefore view card images equally between deck construction and the inventory manager. -Rob At 05:56 PM 9/23/2003 -0400, you wrote: >Okay, I've got v.1.3 now, and I don't understand how to get the card image >to show up. I remeber that, and tried it. I'm still not sure how to do it tho. Can you walk me thru how to do it?
I looked thru the docs, but other than it mentioned in "What's new in v.1.3", I can't find details on how to do it. --Kyle Turner emperor799@bellsouth.net "Despite the high cost of living, it remains a popular item." - unknown ----- Original Message ----- From: Rob Bowes To: cardvault@yahoogroups.com Sent: Tuesday, September 23, 2003 6:20 PM Subject: Re: [CardVault] card images I answered this question just yesterday in response to one of your posts. 1. Load the MK data files
2. Reset any filter to show all models 3. Sort the models by name 4. Click on a model (Acid Ooze, for example) 5. Press <Ctrl-D> to view the card details (there's lots of ways to do this - pick your favorite) 6. At the bottom of the card details form is a button labeled "Show Image". Click it. 7. An empty image area shows in the center of the form that says "Click here to download the image for this model". Click in that area. 8. The download occurs and the model image appears in the center. Using the above method, the user is in complete control of exactly which models to download. Once a model is downloaded and cached, it is automatically displayed. You can also switch back and forth between the image display and text details for the card via the buttons. We'll be releasing a separate tool shortly that allows you to download all the images for a game system automatically (for folks with plenty of disk space). -Rob At 06:17 PM 9/23/2003 -0400, you wrote: >I remeber that, and tried it. It didn't say "Show Image"there was just a black box, but when I clicked on it, the image popped up. This didn't work for all models tho. Can you or someone post a list of all the datafiles that do/will support card images? Not being able to programming info, can you set it up so that multiple cards use the same single pic that's only DLed once? For the follwing questions, i'll assume you can. For MK figs, the different strengths of the same fig name all have the same appearance, with the only difference being that a belt, weapon, etc. is colored yellow for weak, blue for strong. and red for tough. All that said, WK seems to use the same pic for all strenths of the fig. So can you please set it up so that only one pic is used for all the strengths of a specific fig? This would be esp useful with the scalable figs like Heros, Titans, etc. As for the other WK games: HC uses a single fig with no changes for different strengths (a yellow, blue, or red band appears around the dial instead) therefor, you would only need one pic for all versions of a specific fig from a specific set. (different sets use different molds while keeping the same name) i.e. there's a promo Spiderman that looks different form the IC Spiderman, that looks different from the CT Spiderman, etc. For MW, different rank (strength) figs are usually form different factions, so there are drastic color changes, and I could see a reason to use specific pics for EVERY fig in those datafiles. Don't know much about CS, but as it isn't exactly collectible, I don't think there ARE different strengths, so there's prob be seperate pics for each plane/hero anyway. If ur working on ShadowRun datafiles, basically, EVERY fig is unique, so a seperate pic for every fig would be natural. BTW, you might think of also adding support for the rotating pics WK has available for most all their products. While something like that wouldn't even come into play for the CCGs, it could be useful for the growing number of CMGs. Actually, now that I think about it, for CCGs, also having pics of cardbacks for some games would be helpful. Like with L5R and the two different backs, and DBZ will soon add a new game that is compatible with the old game, but has different card backs so you know which cards are used when only playing the new game. You could set it up so that users only need downlaod one pic of each back, which could be displayed with all the appropriate backs. What operating system are you using and at what screen resolution and number of colors? I ask because our testing showed it to work perfectly under WinME, XP, and 2K, and at multiple resolutions and color depths down to 256 colors. > Can you or someone post a list of all the datafiles that do/will > support card images? No. This is completely up to the data file authors and dependent on whether suitable images are available. It's on game-by-game basis, plus it's likely to change over time as images are made available for games that don't currently have them posted on sites. > Not being able to programming info, can you set it up so that multiple > cards use the same single pic that's only DLed once? As mentioned previously, this is entirely up to the data file author. CV does not make any assumptions, nor does it impose any rules about it. Each card is distinct within CV. If the author lumps images together, that is his/her choice and not something we will dictate. Different users will have different preferences on this, and we're not going to dictate things. >For the follwing questions, i'll assume you can. Given that the assumption is not valid, answers to the remaining questions are unfortunately moot. You are welcome to make cases to various data file authors regarding the handling of images for individual games, just as you can lobby for preferences in the ordering of tags, naming of things, etc. You will be a single vote that will be considered by the author, although the final decisions will always be up to the author of each game system. > BTW, you might think of also adding support for the rotating pics WK > has available for most all their products. While something like that > wouldn't even come into play for the CCGs, it could be useful for the > growing number of CMGs. Rotating pictures are only used by the CMGs, so CV is only supporting a single image for all games at this time. If there is sufficient reason to support multiple images in the future, we'll look closely at adding it. > Actually, now that I think about it, for CCGs, also having pics of > cardbacks for some games would be helpful. This would likely just be seen as encouraging the bootlegging of cards, since that's really the only purpose that cardbacks could be reasonably put to. As mentioned previously, our goal is to be viewed unilaterally by all publishers as a valuable complement to the games. So cardbacks would not be a good thing for us to include.
