Players update?

If I have HL and one of my players lives far away, do they have to own HL in order to update their own character? We're playing Pathfinder and my nephew lives in Florida. When he gains experience, do I have to enter the new data on my end after discussing it with him? Probably not a deal breaker, but I'm just wondering how to share "character sheets" with him.

If they dont have a copy of HL, then yes.
