OK Let's go through this step by step, and if you know what I am doing or thinking wrong I'd be grateful for your insight.

Preliminaries: I open up Realm Works to a synced realm and click on the Home tab at the top. Then, I click on the leftmost World Almanac button.

This brings up a navigation panel on the left. In this panel is a button for places. The first entry in this navigation tree is a Location: Planetary Body. I click on it and bring up the Article for the Region and it and all its snippets appear in the view pane. One of these snippets is #3. Notable NPCs.

I decide I don't like that snippet. I don't want it to appear in that context. So, I do the following...

1. At the very top I click on the Manage tab.
2. I click on the Categories button.
3. In the navigation pane on the left I click on Location>Planetary Body.
4. In the view pane under category structure I click on #3. Notable NPCs.
5. To the immediate right I remove the check mark from the Shown box.
6. At the bottom I remove the check mark from the Auto Add box.
7. I click the save icon in the upper right to save my entries.
8. I return to the World Almanac and Sync with the server.
9. I shut everything down and reopen.
10. Notable NPCs is still present in the article.
11. Repeat all.
12. Notable NPCs is still present in the article.
13. Pull out hair.

Does this process NOT remove or make that snippet invisible?

From memory it only impacts future topics made with that category.

This. Changing a category definition does not have any effect on existing topics.

OK, that helps. So, I guess I should go through every Topic BEFORE I add it and make sure the structure is to my liking before I create a new entry. Boy, that helps tremendously with the clutter... I have to say that is one of the greatest downfalls of Realmworks; the clutter.

Personally, I am starting to become a minimalist DM when it comes to preparation. So it makes me very happy that I can FOCUS on ONLY the information I want to keep track of.

Thanks Guys!

You can remove unused snippets from a topic if empty space bothers you.

Thanks again!

I see that I can export a Custom Structure file and then import it when I create Realms.

Now, THIS, is getting somewhere. Basically, I can make a Structure Template that anyone could apply to a Campaign Setting.

@kbs666 Empty space doesn't bother me. Empty space is what I wanted. Unused Snippets and Categories is a Structural issue.

Ctrl shift ~

If you don't know what this does... Try it

That is nice, but it doesn't hide the unwanted categories it just hides their snippets. Is their a key command that does that for the categories themselves?

I am just going to have to soldier up and wade in and configure all the realms settings I want upfront before I start inputting actual realm information. On the upside, I can export those settings as a Realmworks structure file for use in the creation of new realms later ... seeing as most people only create one world this option has limited value.

It will get rid of the categories also if there is no populated snippets within that category.

Either I am completely misunderstanding you or you are completely misunderstanding me, or we are using different versions of Realmworks. When I use 'crtl ~' it only removes snippets from the categories of the current topic which is focused in the view pane. Here is a screen of that:

As you can see in the view pane the Topic Categories are still there.

When I create a new Topic of the same type it is unaffected. Here is a screen of the new Topic which I created AFTER using the 'ctrl ~' shortcut:

All the Snippets are in the newly created Topic.

The Only way to remove them that I have found is to enter the Category Management tab in Realm Settings and Edit the Topic Categories.

Here is a Planetary Body Topic with unwanted Categories hidden(basically a custom structure):

And here is what you get on a Planetary Body Topic with the vanilla structure of Realmworks:

I was able to figure all this out thanks to you guys. You set me on the right path,

Thank you.
