I'm not sure if this is even the right place to put these, but if not,
be gentle with me. Having used CV for a few months, I'm very happy with it overall. But there are a couple of minor things I'd like to see, if ever you get around to making such changes. #1 annoyance: inventory entry. When entering inventory cards, I hate taking my hands off the keyboard. I can press 'P' to jump to the first card starting with 'P', but to go beyond that card I need to either hit the down arrow (which for some reason is very slow, the screen flickers with an update after each keystroke and there is a significant lag) or use the mouse to point at a card further down the screen. What I would really like is the ability to type 'P' [jump to first card], then 'U' [jump further, to first card starting with 'PU'], etc. (Instead, 'U' jumps to the first card starting with 'U'.) The incremental search feature should remember that the last interaction was a keystroke, and build up the search as it goes. If I type an arrow key, or mouse to the screen, then it should reset. #2 wish: I wish card sets (in particular, Magic: the Gathering, because of their reprint policy) had some way to identify when a card was a reprint. For example, in the Betrayers of Kamigawa set, "Phantom Wings" is a reprint from Weatherlight. I'd love to be able to identify such reprints so I can pull them from my old card boxes to use in new Standard-legal decks. |

This is a perfectly good spot for posting feature requests. I've replied to
each of them below.... The reason was simply a matter of confusion for the less technical user - of which we have many. Using the method you describe, the "context" isn't shown anywhere and a user who isn't familiar with that way of doing things would be quickly confused. The current method used by CV is the same method used by Windows within Explorer, so it's the "standard" method that users will be familiar with. You might consider trying the "Quick Search" mechanism. I'm a keyboard person myself, and you can get to the card you want pretty quickly without taking your hands off the keyboard by using Quick Search. Use <ctrl-Q> to initiate the search, then type in the character sequence you want, then press <Enter>, and CV jumps to the card. Hit the <Esc> key to jump back into CV. This is a little bit more work than what you propose, but it's close, and it also has the benefit of not being confusing to non-technical users. :-) >#2 wish: I wish card sets (in particular, Magic: the Gathering, >because of their reprint policy) had some way to identify when a card >was a reprint. Within the Filter mechanism, just click the "Include All Equivalents" checkbox. This will include all of the equivalent cards (i.e. reprints in Magic) in the result set displayed. Within deck construction, you'll need to make sure to disable the option to merge equivalent cards so that the equivalents are shown, but this method will always work within the inventory manager.
