OK, time for another question. What constitutes a "reprint"? Common sense
tells me that it's any card that has previously been printed in another set. However, that would imply that virtually ALL cards in Diamond are reprints. This is fine, except that the existing data files flag ZERO cards from Gold as reprints, even though numerous cards in that set were "reprints" based on my definition. So I'm utterly confused on this. Help???? So I'm utterly confused on this. Help???? Reprints are reprints of a new base level (or story arc or whatever you want to call it). Once the Gold Edition was printed, it became the new "base level". The story arc was sort of "reset", and the time line for the story was advanced. That is why there are "soul of" cards in Gold Edition. Cards appearing in a GE starter deck are not actually reprints but, cards from that set appear in the starter decks of later expansions in the same "arc" or "era". Sometimes the reprints get changed and become MRPs, just to add to the confusion. Once the Diamond Edition is released, it becomes the new "base level". The story is getting "reset" again. ===== --- Kuni Tetsu Clan War rules guy Moderator of ClanWar-l __________________________________ Do you Yahoo!? Yahoo! So I'm utterly confused on this. Help???? Hi, I'm on digest so sorry if this has been answered before. Yes, your definition of "reprint" is correct. Almost all cards in Gold or Diamond (or any basic sets) are reprints. However we use the term "reprint" for those cards that 1) Are reprints of old cards from a previous set. and 2) Aren't part of the numbered checklist of this set. (for sets from Gold on) and 3) Are fixed* in the starters *This adds another complication with the "fixed" rarity. We call "fixed" cards only those that: 1) Appear only fixed in the set and 2) Are part of the numbered checklist of the set. (for sets from Gold on) And, in the case of basic sets, as Diamond will be, this will include a number of cards that won't appear in boosters but only fixed in one starter or another. A good rule of thumb (for sets from Gold on) is that if the reprinted card has a number, it is "fixed". Otherwise it is a "reprint". >Just to confuse me further, the cards you listed as "reprints" for WoC >don't appear anywhere within the spoiler data I was given by AEG. So does >this mean that AEG throws cards from previous sets into new sets without >even identifying them within the spoiler list? Exactly. AEG never bothers to list those. -Ramon ------------------------ Yahoo!
