Elven Weapon Proficiency

I created my own race, the Fey, and then created a Prestige "racial class" for the Fey. So far, so good. I then created an ability on the racial class that gives the Fey Elven Weapon Proficiency as a feat. So far, all is good. It appears on the class list of abilities, shows up in the feat list, and shows up in the special list.

However, when I go to add a weapon, the character is not showing as having proficiency in Longsword or Longbow, which they should.

What am I doing wrong?

The thing is, I'm also giving this race the Elven Curved Sword proficiency the same way and that works! It shows they are proficient in that weapon but none of the standard elven proficiencies work.

The Elven Weapon Proficiency feat is just for display. The actual granting of the weapon proficiencies are handled by the Elf race itself.
