Not sure what happened. I updated a source file with a new edge (from another setting) and now get these errors:
Error says (in case dropbox image doesn't load): The data files could not be loaded due to errors. Hero Lab will now attempt to load them in recovery mode. Once loaded, you can access the editor as normal to correct any errors. The following errors occurred: Portal 'special' - Bitmap file could not be loaded: c:\program files (x86)\hero lab\product\builtin\special.bmp Portal 'special' - Bitmap file could not be loaded: c:\program files (x86)\hero lab\product\builtin\special.bmp Followed by: The following errors occurred: Portal 'special' - Bitmap file could not be loaded: c:\program files (x86)\hero lab\product\builtin\special.bmp Portal 'special' - Bitmap file could not be loaded: c:\program files (x86)\hero lab\product\builtin\special.bmp The end result is I can open all the other game systems I have purchased except Savage Worlds. I even deleted the Edge I made (as that was the last thing I remember doing) but still no luck. HELP!! Any ideas? Those bmp files are there, I looked, so not sure what is going on. |

Have you tried removing the user file for that setting entirely? Or even removing all of the extra .user files to see if SW will load up plain jane at least? That might help to eliminate if the problem is a particular data file or not.

This ended up as a Help Ticket with Lone Wolf. Problem is solved. Here is the solution if anyone has similar problem. It had to do with accidentally working or running as Admin for one instance and changing permissions on files, etc.
Try the following: 1) In Windows Explorer, go to the "c:\Program Files (x86)\Hero Lab" folder. Delete everything in that folder. 2) Is there a "compatibility files" button in the window toolbar? If so, click it, and delete any files in there too. 3) Download and reinstall Hero Lab from our web site That took care of the problem. |
