When I print out my character sheets any Race, Theme, Class or Feat info that is more than three lines of text long are cut off.
Can the character printout be changed to include this information. Would also like to print magic weapon info as there is nothing about weapon properties in printout.

Most people don't want a 10-page character sheet, so the standard is short and simple. Check your Print Hero options - you may have the option of choosing "Abilities and Gear description" - if so, this should give you full details. It may not give you every single detail, and probably not magic weapon properties, but it's better than the standard sheet abreviations.

That seems odd, because my character doesn't seem to print out that way; his Level 10 Theme feature is ten lines but they are all there. Does your character run out to two full pages?

Are you printing out the Power Cards? They have more information.

I choose "Standard Character Sheet, Power Cards & Journal" as my print option, it runs to seven pages. What I see when Printed out is
Under Race Features (My character is a 4th lvl Dwarf Runepriest)

Encumbered Speed You move at your normal
speed even when it would be reduced by armor
or a heavy load. Other effects that limit speed
Stand Your Ground When an effect forces you
to move - through a pull, a push, or a slide -
you can move 1 square less than the effect

Ok this strange saved file as PDF the cut and pasted the same lines from PDF to here and this the info I got :-

Encumbered Speed You move at your normal
speed even when it would be reduced by armor
or a heavy load. Other effects that limit speed
(such as difficult terrain or magic) affect you
normally.
Stand Your Ground When an effect forces you
to move - through a pull, a push, or a slide -
you can move 1 square less than the effect
specifies. This means an effect that normally
pulls, pushes, or slides a target 1 square does
not force you to move unless you want to.

Huh. Maybe something about the printer driver? How does it look if you do a Print Preview from Hero Lab?

Anyway, you should be able to save to PDF and then print the PDF, right?

All printout/ preview screen including PDF files are the same. Have played with the setting on my printer as much as is possible and that makes no difference.
A friend I play with also has the same problem with text been cut short.

Is there any way to change the print screen? Response from Hero Lab when I asked them was totally useless.

Okay, I'm a little confused. I thought you said that when you did a Save to PDF of Hero the PDF looked normal? If you print that PDF to your printer does it get messed up again?

We have several people using Hero Lab for 4e locally and none of them have seen anything like this. Can you put up a character portfolio that this is happening to?

Given that the 4e files are built in the Authoring Kit, I imagine that it's possible to change the character print format, but I bet it's a complicated undertaking. It's also possible to define a custom HTML output format, but I don't think anyone has ever done it for 4e.

It's happening to all my characters that are built for 4e. Had Hero Lab for almost a year now. It has done the same thing to every character I have printed out.
The only time I have seen the full text is when I do a copy (Ctrl C) form a saved PDF file, then past (Ctrl V) that into a text editor etc.
It's like the text is there but after 3 lines the next block of text covers it up.

That's really strange. The only things I can think to ask are the "Tech support on the phone" questions, like what OS and printer you are using, if you are using Hero Lab for any other games, and I assume you've made sure everything is up to date?

I sent Teck support a E-Mail they where less the helpful.

However have found where the problem is.
in /ProgramData/Hero Lab/data/4e sheet_standard1.dat
About 2/3 the way through there is this section

<position><![CDATA[
var maxlines as number
maxlines = 3
if (hero.tagis[source.LongDescs] <> 0) then
maxlines = 10
endif

When I changed var maxlines to 15 I picked up the missing text.

Next question you don't have any idea how to get a power card showing weapons/shields some magic items etc? can get ones for at will, encounter or daily attacks but not ones showing there properties.
