If X exists then y?

I seem to recall something about this, but I can't find it at the moment.

I have a Hindrance called Bloodlust (which is Minor/Major (but Major only available for a particular race)

One racial ability has:

The X gains the Bloodlust Hindrance. If the character already has the Bloodlust Hindrance, it becomes the Major version of the Hindrance.

I see needing to do two things:
1) Bootstrap Bloodlust (Minor) if not already added.
2) If already added, turn the Minor Hindrance into the Major by assigning Hindrance.HindMajor,

What's the simplest way to see if it's already added?
