So I want to make some magic Hammers. Turns out there isn't a Hammer Group.
So I remade the hammers (Light, Maul, War) and added them to this group. Now I have duplicate weapons. I could "replace" with mine but that kind of scares me. I tried to do this extending the hammers to the group but when I deleted the remade weapons I'm getting an error that my wgHammer doesn't exist. so where should I creat the wgHammer? Did that make sense? |

As I understand it, wGroup and other dynamic built-in groups you can only define new tags in by creating an item and adding the new tag on the item, much like you did with your copies or the Spanner item. As long as you have an item with the tag on it, you can extend that tag to the existing items. You can't dynamically extend though AFAIK (I haven't figured out a method even using .1st files, but ShadowChemosh may have some more info.)
If you wanted to hide the Spanner item from dropdown choices you can add the Helper.Helper and Helper.NoSelect tags to the Spanner Item (checkboxes in editor are: Helper Object? and Don't Allow Selection?) You would then have an item that player's can't see or select but it would have the wGroup.wgHammer that you wanted to share with the other three items. |

Thank you! I will look into that, I'm fine with the Spanner, but that would work if I wanted to create other groups!

One of the other great uses for Mechanics is setting any global Tag creation on to them. If you look HERE you see the core community mechanic and you can see it has the creation of deity categories.
By having tag creation be in a single place you don't have to go looking for dozens of different "helper" items. Plus the "name" can be set one time in one place which prevents other issues down the road.
