OK, just downloaded v1.1. Got an error upon loading up my Warlord and L5R files, I got this:

The following warnings occured:
Saved filter is inconsistant with data files. U sing default.
Saved inventory filter is inconsistnat with data files. Using default.

I also got some "orphaned" entries from my Warlord database.

So how bad did I just screw up?

Not bad at all, I have had this happened to me as well, just go into
the CV folder, then data, then into Warlords. Open the data file
called orphans-######## (bunch of digits) and see what cards are
listed. Just go into Card Vault and fix those cards entry (how mnay u
have etc) and then recheck to make sure everything is ok. Atleast
thats what I have done, and it fixed the problem

So it has to do with *my inventory*, not the data files themselves? Whew!

These warnings are caused by upgrading to v1.1. v1.1 does things in
slightly different ways to v1.0, including store the data for your filters
in slightly different ways, so when you load it for the first time it tries
to make sense of them, gives up, and starts over. It's also sometimes
caused by changes in the data files (for example, if you're filtering by a
tag group that no longer exists). Don't worry about it unless it's
happening on a regular basis.

This isn't caused by v1.1, but is a problem caused by getting the latest
version of data files. If you add cards to your inventory, update your data
files, and get this message, some of the cards in your inventory are no
longer present in the datafiles. You might want to contact the data file
author and ask him to put the cards back. (As someone else suggested, you
can also examine the orphans file to see which cards were lost.)

So apparently none of this is your fault. Hurrah!

As Colen indicated, this is to be expected. Lots of stuff has changed in
V1.1, so the old V1.0 filters won't always work. This is nothing to be
worried about.

>I also got some "orphaned" entries from my Warlord database.

Now THIS is something to generally be concerned about. It means that the
author of the data files has changed critical things between one release of
data files and another. Generally, it means that one or more cards you had
entered in your inventory have been changed by the author and are no longer
accessible in your inventory.

As mentioned in another post, the saved file you're pointed to gives you
information on the orphaned cards, so you can correct things. However, the
author of the data files also needs to be notified.

Starting with V1.1, we've included a new tool for authors that should
ensure these sorts of mistakes don't occur (assuming they use it, of course).

The reason this error showed up when you upgraded to V1.1 is that the new
version does a thorough job of checking for these events and reporting them
to you - V1.0 did not do this. The error itself is due to a change in the
data files introduced at some point in the past by the data file author.
But V1.1 is just now detecting and reporting it to you.

>So how bad did I just screw up?

As mentioned previously, you didn't mess up anything. Simply check the
"orphans" file and verify that all the orphaned cards are updated correctly
within your inventory. And make sure to tell the author about the problem
so that he can make sure it doesn't happen in the future - include the
orphans file so that he's got concrete data about where the problem lies
within the data files.

Hope this helps,
Rob

Off hand, I don't know what... can you send me the list of orphaned entries?

The only changes I made was to add the new set. I have not changed any card ID
values in the other card sets... at least, not on purpose.

Please send me the data!

I ran it. It did not point to any problems.

Did you add any cards yourself?

So, this could have been from a very early incarnation of the data files? That
is a different story, but I will know more when I get the orphan data.

Send it to me, at kuni_tetsu@yahoo.com

This could be an ancient issue that arose way back, even between the V1.0
and V1.1 versions of the Warlords files. If so, the error has been
lingering on the user's system and there's been no report of it until now.
So the last set of data files may be rock solid in this regard, but the
error crept in a long time back.

When you get the orphan data, please let me know if it's something recent
or ancient. It's also conceivable that CV is reporting something wrong, in
which case I need to known what happened so I can get it fixed. :-)

Thanks, Rob
