When connecting to a Hero Lab portfolio, does each portfolio have to have only one hero in it, or is there a way for an entity's entry in Realm Works to reference a specific hero within a larger portfolio? I know that I could open it externally, but I'd like to be able to use a few consolidated portfolios, while still having the statblock show up correctly in Realm Works.

Thanks!

You can have multiple characters in a single HL portfolio file. You would typically create an encounter in HL for all the monsters in a particular encounter, save the portfolio file, then import that portfolio file into the RW topic for that encounter.

You can't reference a single hero within a larger portfolio with RW.

Thanks, Farling.

That makes sense. So it looks like the way to use RW's ability to view a creature's HL statblock is to create it in its own portfolio. Then, if you want to use it in an encounter, you would use the "integrate" function to import the single entity into a portfolio containing all the creatures for that encounter.

It would be good to be able to reference a specific hero within a larger portfolio, though. That way, I wouldn't have to have so many different individual portfolios floating around.

Again, thanks for the quick reply.
