Hello everyone. First time poster, let me know if I am not doing something correctly.

I am having trouble with setting up an encounter in Hero lab for 5e and I want to know if there is a solution or if what I am seeing is normal.

Basically, I create an encounter portfolio with several monsters in it. After creating the encounter,I modify a couple of the monsters to be different than their base instance. In the dashboard I see all of my monsters listed, and at the top is what I believe to be the encounter's CR and experience for completing. However, whenever I select a different monster in the encounter, the CR and experience change, and seem to be widely inaccurate.

Basically my question is: Is the CR and experience at the top of the dashboard meant to be the total of the whole portfolio? If so, is it supposed to change when selecting different monsters in the portfolio? Any information that anyone can provide would be appreciated. If there are any tutorials that explain the dashboard those too would be appreciated.

I don't know of any tutorials which explain the dashboard, I'd appreciate a look at any, too.

When I play with the dashboard on my 5e portfolio, nothing changes at the top - the CR and XP of the whole portfolio stay the same no matter which enemy or character I click on to. In fact, I hadn't even noticed this entry before you mentioned it.

Since I'm building a .stock file right now, I can verify that the CR updates in the dashboard based on the order in which the portfolio is built. If I don't sort the dashboard, the CR total changes to be that of the sum up to the character I am currently focused on (clicked on top, the dashboard shows the CR and xp of the one monster, click on the third and it sums the top 3, click on the last and all the monster XP is added up)>

The problem that gets created is if you sort the dashboard using the up/down icon. Then the CR that shows on top is still calculated based on what order I put the characters in, which requires me to know which one I put in last to get the total for the whole encounter.

I can't find any documentation on this feature either but I always assumed it showed the total, not a "upto" amount. Probably worth putting a ticket into LW to get a developer to respond or update the documentation. Or, maybe there is some option that I've got set that I need to toggle to not make it dynamic.

EDIT: Opened a ticket with Lone Wolf to see if this is intended behavior, glitch or whatever.

Re: (Case 126517) 5th Edition bug report: Dashboard total enemy XP is wrong

Hi there,

Thanks for your bug report! I've added this to our to-do list to fix in a future update.

So just remember to recheck the XP total until it gets fixed.
