I am working at adding the Ultimate Magus prestige class from Complete Mage and have hit a snag.

This class allows progression as both a wizard and a sorcerer, but the proigressions is not even like it is for the mystic theurge. Instead of getting one level in each class at each level, there are three levels in which the class only progresses in the sorcerer class, not the wizard. At all other levels it progresses in both.

it appears that the way HL is set up right now, I can either progress in one class at every level, or two classes at every level. There does not appear to be any support for a combination of the two.

Any way to do this?

Wow, I don't think we ever considered that. That's really... weird.

Unfortunately the best way to handle that is going to be allowing
progression like the Mystic Theurge, but relying on the user to not add
a level to Wizard at the three appropriate levels. I can't think of
another way to limit only those three levels. Sorry

I was afraid of that... and then the sheet will forever report a validation error because one of the class abilities is not complete...

Oh well... I still think this product is awesome!

Just curious,

Has anyone come up with a workable Ultimate Magus or are we still stuck duplicating something like the Mystic Theurge, as Colen suggested, and making modifications so it's sticking with the arcane classes instead of the divine?

I have a fellow player that is completely obsessed with the idea of being a U.M. but I lack the talent with the editor to get it to work.

Keep up the good work folks,
