The only DR abilities that can increase would be Class feature or Innate feature, if a template applies either type of DR (Class or Innate) then it is valid for the feat to work, any other DR from an external source, E.g magic item or similar doesn't apply.

Once a DR value has been increased the bonus from the feat cannot be changed or swapped onto a different type.
