A new update of the Shadowrun 5 files for Hero Lab is now available from the automatic updates mechanism within Hero Lab.

This update adds Howling Shadows to the Shadowrun 5 files! This new package is available for $9.99!

Here's the change list for this update:
New Releases!

  • Content from Howling Shadows is now available as a new package! You can purchase this by choosing "Purchase Data Package" from the License menu. Please note that the "Chimeric Modifications" section (p170-174), along with the sample chimerics, is not yet complete - this content will be added as a free update for everyone with the Howling Shadows package in a future update.
Enhancements & Changes

  • Updated the Street Grimoire content to match the Street Grimoire second printing.
  • On the Vehicle tab, there's now a Critter Purchase table, to allow users to add critters as minions. Currently, the only items to purchase on that table are from Howling Shadows, but the editor can be used to add additional options, and future books are likely to add more critter purchase options.
  • Added a new adjustment called "Contact, Exempt from Karma Limits".
Bug Fixes

  • In advancement mode, a vehicle's modification slots would not generate warnings if they were overspent.
  • Among the armor mods, medkits were being sorted with the commlinks, instead of among the armor add-ons.
  • The essence and capacity costs for the Biowaste Storage were not increasing as the rating changed.
  • The Cheetah Jaws weapon on the Ares Cheetah drone was not automatically equipped on its special weapon mount, and could not be manually moved into this mount.
  • A character's total karma was not being added to their Street Cred.
  • The Anti-vehicle AP for the Explosive Mini-Torpedo was incorrect.
  • For a character with an adjustment to lifestyle costs (for example, from the Ogre Stomach or Dependants qualities, or the Suprathyroid Gland bioware) and a Trust Fund that grants an income along with its lifestyle, the income was being multiplied by the lifestyle modifier, meaning that characters who would normally have to pay extra for their lifestyles would receive a higher income.
  • The Claws, Digging metagenatic quality would generate an error message about it being incompatible with cyberarms as soon as it was added to the character, even on a character with no cyberlimbs.
  • Adding the Celerity metagenetic quality with any of the Claws metagenetic qualities would generate an error message on Celerity, saying it could not be combined with leg-altering cyberlimbs.
  • If a character created with the Life Modules system changed their stats to show Astral Projection, the bonuses added by the Life Modules were not being included in the astral versions of the physical attributes.
  • The Real Life modules from Rigger 5.0 did not have a time required set.
  • If a critter power is set up to display extra information, and can only be used on yourself, for example, the Concealment power on a Pixie, the Self Only was not always included in the name when displayed.
  • Tigrine shapeshifters were incorrectly receiving the Vomeronasal Organ quality.
  • In creation mode, on an identity added by a SINner quality that was added by a Life Module, anything bought on that identity (such as a lifestyle) would not have its cost applied to the total resources on the character.
  • The Attention Coprocessor's bonus to the Perception skill's limit was not being included in the display of the character's perception along the top of the screen.
  • The name of the Saeder-Krupp-Bentley Concordat was misspelled.
  • The Rolls-Royce Phaeton and BMW Luxus were not being sorted as limos in the vehicle list.
  • The Gearhead: Handling +1 adjustment was only improving on-road handling, but should improve both handlings.
  • The Gearhead: Acceleration +20% adjustment was left over from 4th edition, and should instead be Gearhead: Speed + 20%.
  • For a character who had the "Hide Chips, Blackmail and Family contact options" setting turned on, the chips would still be listed in that contact's details on the printout.
  • The Cyberfinger, Fingerlighter had the description text for the Cyberfinger, Fingerlight.
  • Using the New Skill Specialty advancement to add the "-Other Specialty-" option could lead to the new specialty's text being added to skills other than the selected skill, as well as the selected skill.
  • If the Mystic Armor adept power was added as a New Adept Power Advancement, and then the Increase Adept Power advancement was applied to it, the armor bonus it grants could be removed from the character's total armor rating.
  • The text for the wireless bonus on the Synthlink augmentation was incorrect (although the correct effects were being applied).
  • For a character created with the life modules system, the further education module could report errors on a character in advancement mode if one was not taken.
  • For a character created with the life modules system, any vehicles, spirits, sprites or other minions could report that they still needed to add life modules.
  • The Manual Control mod for weapon mounts would report an error once added.
  • For a character created with the life modules system, the points applied by the life modules to attributes and skills were not taken into account when calculating advancement costs.
  • The Nanohive (soft) was looking for active hard nanites, rather than soft nanites.
Errata and Rules Clarifications Applied

  • The availability of Hacking Cyberprograms should be 6R, rather than 4R.
  • The cost for dynamic handprints should be 2,100¥*rating.
  • The 360-Degree Eyesight metagenetic quality's penalty while moving should only be to actions, rather than to all tests.
  • Custom Drugs are already considered pharmaceutical grade, so they cannot be downgraded to the standard or street-cooked grades, they gain no benefits from choosing the pharmaceutical grade modification, and the cost of making them designer grade should take into account that they are already pharmaceutical grade. Note that if you have an existing custom drug with a grade added to it, you should delete that grade and re-select it to get the correct effects.
  • The Designer grade for drugs is an upgrade of the pharmaceutical grade, and should include the effects of the pharmaceutical grade, in addition to its own effects.
  • The Friends in High Places quality should exempt one contact from the normal limits on how much karma can be spent on a single contact during character creation. Note that this will be applied to the highest-cost contact on the character, as long as that contact has a connection rating of at least 8 (and therefore qualifies to be one of your Friends in High Places).
  • Vehicles should be allowed to run the same list of cyberprograms that an RCC can run, in addition to autosofts.
Data File Authoring

  • Added a new Critter Purchase tab to the Race grouping. Here, you can set up something that can be purchased on the Vehicle tab, which adds a minion of a specific critter race.
  • Added the ContacHelp.KarmExempt tag. When added to a contact, that contact is exempt from the normal limit on how much karma may be spent on that contact.
