I'm trying to create a LN necromancer to throw at the party and see how they handle it. However, HL isn't letting me choose Command Undead instead of Turn Undead for the bonus feat from Undead School Specialization.
Am I doing something wrong? It always chooses Turn Undead instead of letting me choose like it should. I even changed the persons alignment to LE to see if that would matter and it didn't. Help, how do I create a necromancer who controls undead instead of chases them away. Last edited by Thrantor; November 27th, 2012 at 09:41 AM. Reason: Spelling fixes. |

Click on the Special Abilities button on the left side of the wizard tab. There you will see the "Power Over Undead" Class ability, which has a selector where you can choose Command Undead vs Turn Undead.

Any recommendations for creating a wizard based necromancer in Pathfinder? The only prestige class I've found was Agent of the Grave and it's all sorts of ghoulish.
Looks like straight wizard is the least "LOOK AT ME!! I'M EVIL!" option available. |

Nevermind, I found Juju Oracle... And that works. But now I can't find a way to add templates to hirelings. Which is weird.
Edit: Nevermind... found templates... I R STUPID! Last edited by Thrantor; November 27th, 2012 at 12:23 PM. Reason: stupity. |

I'd say so. I don't view dealing with the dead and manipulating life energies as inherently evil. I think there's too many "Muahahahah!" necromancers wandering around fantasy already, so I'd urge you to think outside the box. For example, there's a NPC necromancer in my game who moonlights as a stand up comedian.
His race doesn't "get" comedy because they have an innate ability for prophecy and see the punchline coming. He's forseen that he'll laugh only once in his life, just at the moment of his death, so he is trying desperately to understand humor so at least he'll understand what is funny. This gives him both a tragic tinge and the potential for dark comedy and misunderstandings, like the time the PCs stumble across him practicing his material on a small crowd of zombies he raised. Talk about a tough crowd! |

I love it and I’m stealing it… perhaps a little Don Rickles flare.
