Way to increase paid cost for custom weapons armor

When you make a Custom/Masterwork weapon/armor you pay the starting amount. But when you upgrade it later on with more enchantments you can't change how much you've paid for it or pay for the difference in cost.

I know add it to the journal or sell it and make a new one so it displays the correct amount paid for it, but is there a way to get a feature that allows us to change a weapon and pay the difference in cost in HL?

1) Sell the old item for 100%
2) Create a new item for the new price instead of "upgrading"
