I've loaded the latest update from WotC, but I'm only seeing 13 backgrounds to choose from for my 4e characters. I have all sources turned on, so I'm just not understanding why there are so few backgrounds.

BTW, the background I'm looking for is Detective from the Scales of War Adventure Path in Dungeon Magzine.

Thanks in advance for any help and/or insight.

We can only download and use data that's listed on the public Wizards web site, or in the D&D compendium here:

http://www.wizards.com/dndinsider/co.../database.aspx

Unfortunately, the Compendium doesn't have any backgrounds listed in it. As a result, we only have access to the few backgrounds they've described in an article on their main web site. Once the backgrounds are added to the Compendium, we'll be able to import them along with the rest of the data.

Hope this helps.

Ack! You'd think that they would have already had that data available. Backgrounds just seem to be more of the same type of data...

Thanks for the info. I guess I'll just have to wait for WotC to conquer the complexity of adding text to their database.

Can the Editor be used to add Backgrounds or would it have to be done with AK?

Yes, you can add backgrounds using the editor. You can go to the Background tab and use the "New (Copy)" button to view the existing backgrounds if you like.
