With Google Chrome, I have had occasions where it stops remembering what I've read and keeps it unread. When this happens, I clear all of the cookies for the site and it corrects it for a while (like several months).

Fantasy grounds uses vbulletin as well and it NEVER forgets, so there must be some issue with the way LW has their's set up.

again, it also depends on the version of vbulletin. What i posted in my previous post about content caching is (was) a known vBulletin issue.

LW, what can you do about it? It is extremely frustrating for those of us who like to try to keep up with these boards.

Apparently "thread read" information was being stored in cookies, rather than in the database like I had assumed. I've switched it to be stored in the database instead, and I'm monitoring to see if it increases load on our server too much for us.

Please let me know if that resolves the issues with the "thread read" status not updating properly.

Thanks Colen,

One thing people should realize, though, by doing that, pretty much everything is goign to be unread what was previously read. So for a one time thing only, we're going to have to mark the different forums as "read".

(the easiest way to do that is double clicking on the parent folders to forcing everything to be read - but if you want you can update each forum yourself manually).

Just thought people should know.

I clicked on "Quick Links" and then "Mark Forums Read" at the top level of the forum.

"Mark Forums Read" is also at the bottom of the main level of the forum.
