"If desired, a wizard may specialize in one school of magic" - Players Handbook D&D3.5e.

Is it possible to create a nonspecialised wizard character using hero lab?

Yes. Just don't select one the schools. It is not required.

Is it that simple? Ha ha. Thank you. I had assumed it was required because it was yellow.
