Yes, new files for Warhammer 40,000 and Mordheim have been finished and
are now available for your viewing pleasure.

Warhammer 40,000 changes:
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
Catachans:
Added the Codex!
Chaos:
Plague Marines now get +1A for having Plague Knives.
Plague Marine Champions don't now get free Close Combat weapons.
Corrected an error in the Plague Sword description.
Orks:
Fixed various problems with the Looted Rhino.
A mega-armoured Ork can now take a Kustomised Shoota and make it More
Shooty.
Dark Angels:
Command Squad Sergeants are now optional, not compulsory.
Blood Angels:
The Death Company now displays that it can have Bolt Pistols & CCWs, or
Bolters.
The Veteran Assault Squad Sergeant now gets free Frag Grenades.
Imperial Guard:
Let the Colonel take a Storm Bolter.
Added the stuff from the Catachan codex.
Corrected the Sentinel statline.
Space Marines:
Because IDIOTS KEPT COMPLAINING!&*$*"*&^ the Scout Sergeant & Veteran
Sergeant can now take Sniper Rifles, and so on, if you click the 'Show
Scout Weapons' option they now have.
All:
You can now take two Master-Crafted Weapons, instead of just one.
Fixed some things which would have caused horrific, planet-shattering
problems in Army Builder II.
Mordheim Changes:
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~

Corrected the Chaos Hounds save.
Made the 'Holy Relic' be an 'Unholy Relic' for all the evil warbands.
Let Possessed Beastmen henchmen get +1S as an upgrade.
Gave Beastmen access to double-handed weapons to hold in their Extra Arm
- only take these if you've got that 'super strength' skill. (this will
get better in AB2)
Let the Beastmen take Hired Swords.
Added Nicodemus, the Greatest Wizard in the Known World.
Corrected the 'Sword of Rezhebel's description.

The files can be downloaded from the Army Builder section of
http://www.freek-inc.com/skrills/, or from the Vault of the ab-files
list; http://www.egroups.com/ab-files/docvault/

Note: For some reason, skrill.org isn't working (heads will roll,
believe me). Therefore, if you want to urgently get in touch with me
(ahahaha!) you'd better email colen@w2s.net instead, for the moment.
Happy gaming!

Since when did Sgts have access to sniper rifles?? C:SM page 5 restricts sgts
from gaining such weapons. And Vet Sgts can only use weaponry from the armoury -
and sniper rifles aint in the armoury!!

Thats plain wrong!! Wargear can only be taken once per model and Master Craft is
wargear and thus only one weapon can be MC'ed.

I know. I've put in an option that you click, which has the explanation
on it, to stop people emailing me about it.

Hmmm... you could interpret it as 'Master-crafted X' being the wargear,
and thus not being allowed to be duplicated. I.e., you couldn't have
two MC Plasma Pistols.

Let them complain to GW - the whole point about the AB files is to follow the
rules as laid down in the rulebook/codexes. By adding in an illegal option you
risk destroying the reputation that the AB files have.

What next?? A 10-man Dev squad, with each marine having a heavy wepaon for 5pts
because so idiot complains he wants it that way?? :)

The wargear rule is quite clear and cannot be misunderstood - even by an amoeba
:P

Again, the AB files shouldnt have stuff that is illegal - it damages their
credibility. And after paying for AB and supporting it unconditionally, I feel
very strongly on this point.

I have to agee with Jimi on this one. If someone just has to have these
none legit items in their army, let them write it on their sheets with pen.
They can't complain about add the points up for that! As the original
maintainer and distributor of the AB data files (though Avatar Gaming
Group), I feel I know what i'm talking about (IMHO).

Thanks,
Brikey

They have a reputation? Can I make money from this? :P

I can't remember if I've explained this before, so I'll do it again.
It's ambiguous - most of the time the squads say "one space marine may
have" or "one guardian may have" etc., which obviously excludes
sergeants. The Scout squad says "Any model may have", which is where
the problems start.

No, because that's just silly. :P

I'll look into it.

I must say, I didn't appreciate the strength of feeling on this

I shall see what's what, and report back.

Actually, I've run into this problem before when I was running a 40k
league. A player was wanting to give his scout squad seargent a sniper
rifle because it states that up to four models may upgrade to a sniper
rifle. In the front (On page 4 I believe) of the SM codex there is a
statement that sergeants cannot recieve weapon upgrades for a squad.
They are pretty much limited to bolters or bolt pistol and combat
weapon, or upgrading to a vet. sergeant, gaining access to the armory.
I'm sure there are similar listings for other "sergeants" of other
races.

Hope this helps.

Codex:Space Marines, page 5, under the heading of "Army List Entries" there is a
statement that begins "Options:......"

This is the rule that prohibits any sgt from taking squad upgrades.

The Ab files done by the 'Skrills' (:P) do indeed have a reputation, and its
growing all the time. Admittedly, there are a few small gliches with the AB
files but the general concensus (at least from the vast majority of the people
on my mailing lists and my wargames group) is that the files are very good anf
follow the rules as laid down in the rulebooks/codexes. Any deviation from those
rules will only damage this reputation and make people go elsewhere for their
army files.

This could have a knock-on effect - who wants to use an army builder program
when the files dont even correspond to what the rulesbooks/codexes say?? See
where this could lead??

People will always use the way an entry is written to power-game. They quite
convieniently forget the small limitations (like the sgt getting no squad
upgrades) and go for an edge over their opponent (no matter how small it may
be).

> I'll look into it.

OK  :)

I'm not alone in this - thank God. Otherwise people would just think I'm nothing
but a whining Space Woof!! :)
