Our plans for Ultimate Equipment and Paths of Prestige

Hi everyone,

We wanted to provide a Hero Lab update related to Pathfinder and the major new books Paizo is releasing at Gen Con, “Ultimate Equipment” and “Paths of Prestige”. Both of these books require a substantial amount of work to implement in Hero Lab. “Ultimate Equipment” contains thousands of items, a large number of which are new, while “Paths of Prestige” encompasses 30 new prestige classes. Each of these alone represents a large amount of content for us to add, but the two combined are huge.

Unfortunately, we only received the "Ultimate Equipment" material from Paizo on Tuesday, with "Paths of Prestige" arriving earlier this month. This means that we have substantially less lead time than usual to get these two massive books entered into Hero Lab.

We’ve already begun incorporating both of these books into Hero Lab. Based on where things currently stand, we wanted to let everyone know that we do not expect to have add-ons for “Ultimate Equipment” or for “Paths of Prestige” available in time for Gen Con. We will release these add-ons as soon as they are ready and will keep everyone posted as to their potential release dates.

Please note that it remains our goal to release material for Hero Lab at the same time new books are released. Based on recent discussions with Paizo, we believe it will be easier to achieve this goal in the future. Unfortunately, those changes will not help with these two upcoming books.

Thanks in advance for everyone's patience as we scramble to get these books ready as soon as possible.

Thanks Mathias, it's appreciatted, and I would rather you guys get it done right the first time (or as close as you can with that much information) then rush it and be patching stuff for weeks on end. You have a quality product and I don't see the need to change that policy.

Y'know, I'm glad I came to check up on this today, because these are exactly the two books that I'm planning to be devouring in the near future. Thanks for letting us know. :)

Just out of curiosity, not trying to rush you guys at all, but do we have an ETA on the Ultimate Equipment?

Follow up to that, will it be it's own data package or part of one of the others?

Hi. We've been making some good progress, but don't have a firm date yet. We'll provide an update in our newsletter next week. We expect UE will be a stand-alone data package.

Thanks for the update! Looking forward to the newsletter!

It's housebroken - we've trained out every program-stopping issue we've encountered. We've even got it doing tricks like "Add that Page of Spell Knowledge to my spells known, and "Show the damage of my +1 flaming longsword as "1d8+1+1d6 fire" (admittedly, at this point, it only knows the flaming and frost versions of that trick - I still need to teach it other versions like shocking, acidic, etc. and it still needs to be trained to work well with the monster rules, so that it can perform that same trick for grab and other things like that).

Of course this is a big, hairy beast, so it'll take a long time to comb through all that fur to make sure we get out all the fleas and other bugs before we let it out into the world.
