Greetings,
I downloaded Army Builder EX and everything seemed to be working ok for a while. Recently however, when I try to start Army Builder EX it crashes immediately with a windows error (see attachment). I reloaded the latest patch and it seemed to work until the next time I started Army Builder EX. I looked through the forum but didn't see anything related to this. My system is a standard windows xp pro; with nothing significant changed in the system since I installed AB. Are there any recommendations or next steps I should take to get this resolved? Thanks, John Wright |

Well, my own immideate reaction is, check the error report data. See if it gives any more info as to why.

Daniel,
Unfortunately it's just a stack dump with nothing meaningful as I can tell. If a developer is interested I can post the results. Regards, John Wright |

It sounds like you are another victim of the bizarre bug that affects only a tiny number of users and that we've never been able to reproduce in-house. Our theory is that the problem centers on a security tool that replaces the fundamental Microsoft Windows API for accessing the internet. Since AB relies on the API for all of its internet access, if a tool swaps it out but doesn't accurately reproduce the behavior of the original Microsoft API, AB ends up crashing. There is a work-around to the problem. You'll find it outlined in the thread entitled "Instalation problems" (the spelling error matches the original thread title) from around October of 2006. Hope this helps, Rob --------------------------------------------------------------------------- Rob Bowes (rob@wolflair.com) (408) 927-9880 Lone Wolf Development www.wolflair.com |

Rob,
Adding the -disableupdates seems to work, although it did error out after I picked a game system other than the default. After loading the default I was then able to switch to 40k. I'll try some other permutations and see if I can run into any other problems. Thanks, John |
