I personally would be fine with "essentials powers" marked but not auto selected or limited to them.

Actually, I would be fine with "whatever is easier" for you!

I guess the most stuctured way to do it would be to offer the choices in the book and the include "Other Essentials Options for this Level" which directs you towards the powers of other Essential class builds, and "Other 4th Ed. Options for this Level" which directs you to non-Essentials options of the appropriate level.

Realy anxious to see the Essentials stuff implemented! Essentials got my group back into the game! It *is* nice to have options from other books available, tho...

I would not limit it to X power or Y power, personally I do not pick the essential classes b/c they are to limited, and I like the choices.

The essentials classes are very limited in scope... with good reason... they were designed as introductory classes for new players and do not yet have the larger line of options that those from the PHBs do. Given time, they will likely have their own expansions. The vampire however, really does not need choices, they stayed very true to what a vampire is when they made the class.
