So why not use our current HLC credentials?

I understand the need for security but come on... No password reset?

Perhaps you've overlooked the fact that HLC uses a separate license number for EACH MACHINE. That doesn't map over to HLO at all.

In addition, HLO is on a completely separate server that works completely different, with no knowledge of HLC accounts. With no way to map the accounts across using a simple signup process, that wasn't a viable approach.

Please see upthread. We prioritized core capabilities over password reset because we (apparently, wrongly) assumed users would remember the login credentials they provided to us.

They are spelled out on the Open Beta Signup form where you first signed up. Please check there for all the details you're seeking.

Thanks, I'll keep trying.

Double thank you. I'm now in! Crazy password rules, but knowing what they are helped me remember.

Yeah, I don't really see them as all that crazy. You password could literally be "Password1" under our scheme, which is definitely not recommended.

If you're using passwords that don't meet our criteria on ANY site or app, I recommend you change them immediately. Otherwise they will be the first passwords cracked by hackers in the many data breaches that are common nowadays.

Nah, it doesn't have a special character... Now maybe "P@ssword1"

Nope: "At least 1 digit or special character". Special characters aren't required. Either P@ssword or Password1 would be valid (but again, not recommended).

So... is the username an email or a name? And what WERE the requirements on the password? Never mind... went and looked at the signup form and saw...

As mentioned above on the password... and NOT and email for account name.

*wry grin* I'm among those who forgot his password. I signed up weeks ago, and while I swore I put the password in LastPass, it does not seem to have stuck around. Ah well, I'll wait. My bad.

On a side note, I am glad that passwords aren't sent in plaintext. That was always one of those things that made me see red when I signed up for an eCommerce site (especially one which retains credit card info!) and I see that the password is in plain text in the email. It's a bit better since I started using a password manager, since now I don't use the password in multiple places, but still...
