I'd recommend the big foot-wide foam dice. They're excellent learning tools. And also make awesome props for casting spells while LARPing

That conjures old images of a friend of mine who played a Sorcerer who chose to manifest his Magic Missiles as giant D20s, or "Arcane Icosahedrons of Death" as his character referred to them.

Also, I'm proud that "Icosahedron" broke the forum's spellchecker.
