I have a custom ability that is going to be available on a bunch of different configurables. However, depending which one it is on its description will be different and I want that to show in the description text before the thing is picked (in the selection panel).
Can this be done or will I have to make several copies of the same thing? |

Perhaps give it an eval script which transitions to the configurable through the table linkage, and depending on what it is added to, sets the CustDesc field appropriately?

That works once the thing is picked, but what I want to do it have the description set before it is picked.
right now here is what I have on the thing to be picked Code:
First/120 var desc as string if (linkage[table].tagis[Custom.BrdCfg] <> 0) then desc = "BARD" endif field[CustDesc].text = desc |

Out of luck I'm afraid. I'd add some placeholder text, perhaps how it works when added in various places. Why do you want to use a single thing in all these places?

This is the Mythic Spell List class feature from the Mythic Hero's Handbook. What it does differs slightly for each class. However, in essence all it does it ups the count on another entry on the configurable. I was just trying to find a way of not having to make multiple copies of the same object whose only difference is their description text.
