At what point in the install process does it crash?

Have you tried closing Hero Lab, going to our web site
(http://www.wolflair.com/) and downloading the new version from there
and installing it manually? Please give that a try.

Hope this helps,

What do you mean by "decides to crash"? EXACTLY when does this occur? What error message is displayed? What operating system are you running under? And what sort of security tools do you have active on your computer? Please provide as much detail as possible so that we have a chance of figuring this out for you.

Your best bet is to send an email to support@wolflair.com that outlines the problem in detail (i.e. that answers all my questions in my previous post). Our response time on the forums is sporadic, and this is a horrible venue for figuring out problems. So sending an email to support is your best bet. If you insist on handling it here, we can do it that way, but it will likely take longer to get your situation sorted out and have you running again.

I was seeing the same behavior. Herolab would crash as soon as I clicked the OK button when it said it needed to Restart Herolab in order to process the upgrade. The download seemed to complete successfully. I am on XP SP 2. I manually upgraded and it worked fine.

The latest upgrade was crashing right after I pressed 'ok' for the restart. I would get a Windows crash pannel asking me if I wanted to report it.

I downloaded the update and installed it manually and things worked fine.

This is the result of an issue that we fixed in version 1.1b. You might
get this error while upgrading to v1.1b, but it should be fixed from
then on.

Hope this helps,

This is EXACTLY what it was expected to do. Please re-read my posts about this in the threads regarding this bug. I also specifically flagged this as expected within the V1.1b release announcement. The update you attempted was being performed by V1.1a - but the fix was introduced in V1.1b. So the update SHOULD have crashed when you initiated it from within V1.1a. The fix is now included in V1.1b and should no longer be a problem.
