When I used this to make edges using the toolkit all my ID's were random and worked. I spent hours putting new edges for my westeros setting in Herolab and when I upgraded the edges disappeared. And The new edges I tried to make got the invalid unique ID warning and would not save. I followed the doiirections for naming with 10 letter _ and numbers NONE of them are taking the codes. What am I doing wrong? What would a typical code look like that the program will except?

Based on your description of the problem, I assume you were adding new Edges to the Savage Worlds game system. The edges shouldn't have disappeared unless you checked the "Delete files not updated by import" checkbox on the "Import Files" form - even if you did that, they should still be present in an "importbackup" folder under the game system. So you might want to check that folder to see if a copy is in there (Check the c:\herolab\data\savage\importbackup folder, although it might be different depending on how Hero Lab is set up).

Here are some examples of valid unique ids:

hello
throne123
x_y_z

Here are some examples of invalid ones:

!hello
red blue
x-y-z

Each of these uses characters (!, a space, -) that aren't allowed in unique ids.

If you're getting an error message about unique ids, it's possible that the unique id for the current record is correct, but some other unique id in the file isn't. Can you post the error message here? (You can copy it by right-clicking on it and choosing "Copy to Clipboard".)

Hope this helps!
