Hi when attempting to set up a roster for Blood Angels I notice that when I am working with my assault squads that when i change one of their weapons to a melta-gun that it adds an additional model to the unit thus skewing the points value. The option says to replace a bolter to a meltagun for only 10 points but it adds an additional model to the unit with a melta gun as well and it wont let me reduce the other assault marines to 3 to make up for it. This shows an inaccuracy in my point values. Is there anything I can do to fix this or is this a bug?

Hi Caen,
I've just tried doing it, and have managed it with no problems. Like you said, select the squad then tick the meltagun box under the 'Replace bolt pistol with' section. This does add an additional member to the squad, so you need to select the line with 4 troops in, and click on the '-' button above the 'cost' column. This will reduce the number to 3 standard troops, a sergeant, and the meltagun you just selected. Hope that helps. |

Note that the reason this is done is because taking a meltagun alters the profile of the model; instead of getting 1+1 attacks, the model with the meltagun loses the bonus attack for having a pistol and hand weapon.
Thus the model with the meltagun is broken out onto a separate line to make this clear. This adds a model for various technical reasons that could be worked around but would cause other issues if they were. The final result is a compromise, but a good and useful one.
