I recently purchased a new computer due to my old one “dying”. I was able to save my Army Builder 3 program data for transfer to my new computer. I also successfully reassigned the license to my new computer using the instructions in the program and on your web site.
The first time I tried to open a Warhammer Fantasy roster on my new computer, after downloading the new Empire army book update, I received the following error message… “The following errors occurred: Cannot create core run-time file c:\program files\armybuilderex\Data\wb6\core.abz” Then, after I click the “ok” box… “Due to an unexpected error loading the new game system, Army Builder is unable to continue and must exit.” Note: My new computer has Windows Vista, if it makes any difference. It appears I can’t use Army Builder 3 until this error is resolved. Please help! |

Is it worth checking the permissions on the data folder for the files? When AB compiles an import it creates three .abz files so it could be under Vista it doesnt have the permissions it needs to either write, ammend or create files ... but I dont know much about Vista so it is a shot in the dark?

Thanks for your response; however, I don't know how to check the permissions on the dta folder for the files. I can't get into the program anyway since it makes me exit after displaying the error messages.

Can you load any other game systems? If so, that will get you into AB. Once you can, I'd try settings menu, development & debugging, enable data file debugging. Next, go to the tools menu, data file debugging, compile data files, and select Warhammer - the result of that compile may give Rob and Colen more to diagnose things with.
Option 2 - Delete the c:/ArmybuilderEX/Data/WH6 folder in its entirety, then load up AB, download Warhammer, and see if the clean version works. |

I tried Option2, since it sounded the easiest, and it worked!!! I even exited the program after successfully opening it, restarted the computer, and closed and opened it a couple more times to make sure. Thanks to mgehl for the fix!!!
