This post only applies to the handful of users who are currently having
crash problems with CV's Views.

We just came up with an idea of why this might be happening. It's
conceivable that the problem is related to the video driver. If the video
driver is not implemented correctly, one of the things that CV is doing
MIGHT cause the driver the fail and trigger a crash.

Unfortunately, we can't test it here, because it will only occur on a
machine with a buggy video driver.

So we need you all to test this out for us. Pick a game system that you
have not previously used within Card Vault AND that has a LOT of tag groups
(e.g. Warhammer 40K is a good one that I don't think anyone has mentioned
yet). Download the game system and import it. Then select it from the list
and load it.

Go into the inventory and click on the button to change the View. Now start
systematically designating "info" and "hidden" groups for display in a
"column". If the theory is correct, then CV will crash at some point while
doing this.

Please let us know what results you get from this test ASAP.

Thanks, Rob

P.S. If the problem is a buggy driver, you're not hosed. We can probably
change CV's behavior in a patch release so that it doesn't trigger the
driver bug. But we need to know whether this IS the problem before
investing the effort to make the change. :-)

Please explain what you mean by "Please let us know what results you
get from this test ASAP." Do you want us to write down everything we
do step by step until it crashes? Or something else??

Let me know when things work and when they start to fail. When they fail,
specify what the behavior is that starts failing.

For example, the info you report might be something like the following....

All fields are first designated as "info". Everything works fine with all
fields designated as "info" except the name. Fields are sequentially
changed to "column". As soon as field "foo" is set to "column", the sample
column at the top starts showing garbage text within it. Setting field
"foo" back to "info" results in the sample column showing properly again.
When "foo" is set to "column" and its width is increased to 20 or more, CV
crashes.

**NOTE!!** The above is purely an example I pulled out of thin air! It's
provided purely to give you an idea of the sorts of information that will
prove most valuable to us in an effort to figure out the problem and get it
fixed. Your results will be substantially different (since the example
isn't based on anything real). :-)

Hope this helps,
Rob
