If I attempt to Preclude a given item from two different datasets I get a duplicate record error.
Example: The Power Points Edge. For Deadlands I want to preclude it because I have a new Power Points Edge built to handle the Deadlands Arcane Backgrounds. In Hellfrost I want to preclude it because Hellfrost doesn't use Power Points. If I have the preclude listed in both USER files in the Preclude tab, I get (Preclude - Duplicate record encountered ('edgNewPts')) and neither USER file (DL or HF) loads. Each preclude is listed with a different Source Id that matches the USER file it's in. But it appears to only check the Thing Unique Id for duplication and not look at the Source Id associated with it. How do I preclude a given item from more than one dataset? Should I be using Hidden instead? |

The only way around this that I have found so far is to put all of your precludes/hiddens in one file then add each source you need to that preclude.

OK, I tried that with each item on a separate line, like so:
thing Unique Id....Source Id edgRapRch..........hf edgRapRch..........Deadlands It still gives me the duplicate entry error. How are you doing yours to avoid the error? Are you somehow putting both Source Id's on the same line? |

Colen and I are trying to figure out a clean solution to this that we can add to V3.7 before it comes out. Keep your fingers crossed that we manage to solve it.

Whoops my bad.
What I did was reate a new skill, edge etc. then chose replaces thing, and chose the skill i wanted to preclude. Then I chose which sources to use the replaced skill. Then I created the preclude precluding the new item I created. But if Rob and Colen can fix it so much the better. :-) Alvin Leadbetter www.rpden.net |

In V3.7, you should be able to define multiple precludes of the same thing in multiple files, and they should all be merged cleanly.
