I was looking through the list of tags and I often see the same tag groups repeated twice, one local and the other global. What's the difference?
I'd like to eventually use the marketplace to publish some of my content, so should I only use global tags to mark my content, or does that not matter? If it does matter, would I be safe deleting the local versions of the tag groups so I don't accidentally add one of those? |

The local tag domains are present if you are a beta user. Before we had the server up, there were no global tag domains, but you needed something to use. So we created the tags/domains (and categories) automatically. Once we had the server up and running, one of the upgrade steps renamed all of the auto created tags/domains/categories/etc. to have (Local) appended to the end and then allowed the global versions to come down from the server.
If you wish to publish material, it would be best to switch to using the global versions. Once you have done that, you can also go and delete the local versions, unless you have some customizations you wish to keep. |

Methinks you've both gone off the deep end. That aside, really good info.

Off the deep end? Why do you say that?

Coming to the forums to ask a question when you are undoubtedly in touch privately pretty frequently. I know, I know, it was rhetorical and it was a really good question that will help a lot of us in the long run. I just found it amusing....

Ah, sorry. I was confused.
David works on the realm-works side of things, as a developer, while I am a lowly data file author for hero lab. There isn't very much overlap in our jobs, especially since I work from home. If I wanted, I could have sent an e-mail to the company list, but my personal tech questions don't particularly warrant that sort of thing. Plus, as you had said, putting the Q and A here means others can see and benefit from it. |
