Hi

I've just started to tinker with the Authoring kit, using the skeleton files generated by Hero Lab. I'm starting to get the absolute basics. So far I've managed to add a few more attributes, and changed the point cost of those attributes.

My first problem is that I can't find how to set a default value. I understand (I think) that it's the trtUser field which is the set value. However, I can't find out how to set that to another value than 1.

Any hints or tips would be appreciated

Ok, found it myself. I added the line

<fieldval field="trtUser" value="10"/>

to the attributes in the things_attributes-file.

That, however, leads me to another question: I now added that line to all the attributes, but what if I wanted to say that ALL attributes start at a certain level?

In traits.str, find the Traits component, and add this line to the definition of the trtUser field:

defvalue="10"

However, skills, derived attributes, and everything else based off the trait component will also get that same default value, so I don't think you actually want to go with this, and will have to stick with the attribute-by-attribute definition that you found.

Yupp, I found that after a while, but as you said, it didn't work as I hoped for. For instance, point costs wasn't updated as expected, so I went back to the attribute for attribute.
