get a message thqat says they're not valid army builder files, and when I import the 40k files, they're not available for making rosters. -call me Andy, dammit ------------------------ Yahoo! If they're .zip files (as opposed to .ab files) try opening them with something like winzip. If that can't open them, then download them again - your file is corrupt. If it can open them, do the files inside look like AB data files? There should be at least a datadef.xyz file (replace .xyz with the game extension, such as .40k for the 40k files) and a whole heap of other *.xyz files... If you can see these files in the .zip file, then the last thing is to try and extract them into the Army Builder "data" subdirectory... Although if you can do this, then AB should have been able to do it too... If you're talking about .ab files, Netscape used to have trouble with .ab files, thinking they were zip files and generally stuffing things up. If you're using Netscape, make sure you use the "Save As" option for a link instead of just clicking on it. (Although the current versions of AB should be able to compensate for this behaviour).. Hope that helps, Russell. ---- Russell Sparkes - rjs@inorbit.com - http://www.freecfm.com/r/rjs "Experience is what you get just after you needed it" - Unknown |

Okay, let me see if I can describe this better. The 40k roster,
40k3v3p10.ab, from the ab files group says it imports just fine to my army builder. But 40k is not listed on my list of game systems I can make rosters for. That's the firstg problem. I have also extracted the dark angels zip file and saved it as a .40k file. It is not recognized as an army builder file. I'm not sure where to look for the datadef.xyz file. This may very well be the problem, no datadef in the original 40k file. -call me Andy, dammit ------------------------ Yahoo! Groups Sponsor ---------------------~--> Buy Stock for $4. No Minimums. Maybe it will help if I mention that I have AB 1.4.

If there's no datadef, there's no system.
The datadef should be in "drive:\armybuilder_directory\data\datadef.40k " AB uses the datadef to recognise the game systems SnaRf > I'm not sure where to look for the datadef.xyz file. Bingo! We have cause! The current files are designed to work with AB 2.2C. They aren't backward compatible with 1.4 ------------------------ Yahoo!
