Why cant i create a character in HL?

I just bought HL, and tried to make a 4e character, but im unable to choose race or class. Everytime i try i get the message "nothing to choose from".

Anyone know what could be wrong?

With 4e, you need to first run the ddidownloader.exe (which is in your /data/4e folder) in order to retrieve the necessary data from the ddi compendium.
