Just recently I added platform="win" to my updates.xml file.
I did this since I don't have access to a Mac machine. In order for my .hl files to work on a mac, do they need to be compiled on a Mac, and therefore two listings in my xml file? I see this is how the Community Bestiary is done. Or can I just leave off the platform line and it will work in both environments? Unless you have added something platform-specific, like a non-standard font, Hero Lab files will work on PCs or Macs and you can leave out the platform="".

The "Warn About Platform-Specific Fonts" checkbox in the Develop menu is how you can keep yourself from accidently doing so.
(An example of a platform-specific font is Wingdings - all this platform-specificity stuff was added because I tried using some nice open & filled circles in the wingdings font for damage boxes at some point, and then we ran into some trouble when that got used on a Mac). |
