I have all of the Pathfinder data sets and was wondering what is the nest way to use Hero Lab to handle monster encounters? I tried making a few just tinkering around but it still asks for favored class and such for monsters that are classless. So what is the best method?

Welcome aboard! I guess I have to ask which monsters you are having the issues with? I just pulled up Sargavan Boar, and while it has the Favored Class dropdown menu, it isn't giving a warning stating it is required to be filled in.

I'm sure others will chime in on how to use HeroLab for encounters. I haven't started to use the dashboard just yet.

Actually in pathfinder any monster can have classes and levels in those classes. If you want just the base monster/animal you can pull it up from the stock heros option from the menu, and not make any modifications.

are you looking to have it do soemthing like roll a percentile to determine if an encounter happens, then grab a random monster?

No, just need to set up and print out some encounters for my PC to deal with tonight. But have never used HeroLab for anything aside from Character Generation up til now.

Just create a new char. choose the race that is the monster you want and thats it. of course you need to have the add on for the beastiary that the monster is in.

How do you add templates to monsters? For instance I wish to make a snake a giant snake, or an undead goblin.

This one confused me for some time too. Templates can be found within the "Class" drop down list box.
