Something interested that I noted that AB is doing on my computer: I have
installed v2.0a through d, and now in my Add/Remove Programs menu, it
lists them all. This is hardly critical (would "uninstalling" v2.0a-c from
the menu get rid of the whole program though?), but something that would
be nice to get rid of.

If I remember correctly, removing the a-c will remove
everything. Download and install TweakUI from Microsoft - one of the
options is the 'Add/Remove Programs' section, you can remove the listing
for a-c. The other option is digging in the registry (not something I
recommend for beginners).

Hi Michael,

I tried this a while ago, and yes the Windows Add/Remove Programs function is so primitive that it deletes all the shared files from the various versions of AB. In other words you'll lose your program. ;-(

Excellent timing! You posted this just in time for me to correct it before
V2.1 gets released. V2.1 will now clean up entries from past installations.
It should be released within 24 hours.

Thanks, Rob

Excellent. While not a major problem per se, it'll be nice to have that
dealt with. Thanks a lot for that, and for the superb program.

Cool, I learned something then. I noticed there is 2.0a,b, and d in
mine, but I always thought it was supposed to be there.

Nope. It's one of those stupid, niggly little details that has to be
manually handled in the installer. Given how much juggling I'm always doing
to handle everything on this end, sometimes those niggly details manage to
slip through. :-)

Thanks, Rob

Subject: V2.1 is Here!

Hear ye! Hear ye! The grand event is upon us!! :-)

That's my subtle way of announcing that V2.1 of Army Builder has now been
officially released. :-) This new release is FREE for all existing V2.0
users, so simply download it and install it over your existing version.

The bulk of the additions to this release are primarily extensions that
support more sophisticated data files to be created. So you will be seeing
these new capabilities put to use shortly in many of the various data files
you are already using.

HOWEVER, there is one MAJOR new feature for end-users (and a bunch of
little ones). Army Builder can now handle everything associated with
retrieving updated data files. Building on the automatic update mechanism,
AB will now allow you to select a set of data files and immediately
download them across the internet, automatically and without having to
switch to your web-browser for the purpose. This will work for ALL data
files that AB knows about, including files that are dispersed across the
internet. Once the files are downloaded, AB can automatically import the
files for you, and you're ready to start using them. You never need to
chase down data files again - AB does it all for you with a couple of mouse
clicks. It's now just as easy to find and install data files as it is to
create rosters!

You'll find the new version awaiting you on the web-site at
www.wolflair.com. It's in the Product Downloads section.

Thanks, Rob

P.S. A new release of the Construction Kit and ABLite is also available.
Grab them if you want them.
