Greetings,
Assuming there are no last-minute surprises, we'll be officially releasing the first Beta of AB V3.2 tonight! The Beta will be going to the data file authors and a few others. We want to keep the Beta group small so that it's manageable for us. The more people involved, the more time it consumes and the longer it takes us to actually get V3.2 finalized. That being said, if you feel you are "special" and deserve to be included in the Beta, you are welcome to plead your case to us via *private* email. :-) And if you are a data file author and don't receive info about the Beta, please contact us so we can get you added! I'm sure all of you are wondering what cool stuff we've added. We'll be putting together a feature list and providing some screenshots on the website next week. We'll include links to that information here on the forums. So please hold off on bombarding us with questions until *after* we've posted that information and you've had a chance to view it. :-) The status of V3.2 is that we've added all the *major* stuff that we planned. There are still a bunch of little things that need to be added. So it's going to be another few weeks before it's ready for official release. This also assumes there are no glaring issues uncovered during the Beta testing process, which could entail additional work. So we'll keep you all apprised of our progress here on the forums, but I can honestly say it will be out "real soon now". :-> One last item that was asked in another thread. The V3.2 release will be 100% backwards compatible with V3.1. This means that all V3.1 data files should "just work" under V3.2. As always, though, there is an exception. If you are a data file developer and have all the authoring stuff turned on, V3.2 will result in some game systems failing to compile. This is due to increased verification of the data files in V3.2 and some errors being caught that previously were allowed through. We'll be outlining how to resolve these issues with the data file authors. However, for the typical user who does *not* have the authoring mechanisms enabled, the extra checks are disabled and the existing V3.1 data files will be loaded without any problems. Anyways, that's the update on V3.2. If there is something I've overlooked that is not feature-related, please ask and we'll do our best to get you an answer. Otherwise, please hang tight for the feature list and screenshots next week! Thanks, Rob |

Quick update. We found something significant during our final testing before the Beta release. :-( So we're going to hold off on the Beta release until we can get this issue fixed on Monday.

The Beta went out last night, so please let us know if you're a data file author and you didn't get the Beta notice.

There are two private forums for the AB Beta process. If you have received the Beta and do not yet have access to those private forums, please contact Colen so he can grant you access. His email is "colen" at the usual wolflair.com domain. [Note: I intentionally did not use his explicit email address so that scrapers don't start sending him tons of spam.]
