I suddenly am finding all the creatures I've built for my XCOM game having their Pace reduced, typically by about 3. They don't otherwise have anything in common, and the only global houserule in the data file is one that says the multilingual option is in use. Any idea how this could have happened? I can't even figure out where to look. I'm thinking it didn't used to be this way, either.

Addenda: I just checked the Weird War II datafile and it seems to be happening there, too; the werewolf has a pace of 5.

Anyone else seeing this?

Seems to be working OK for me. I occasionally see issues with Toughness on creatures calculating strangely, though, but Pace seems to be fine. You could try systematically moving all of the .user files out of your data directory and loading Hero Lab with only one setting at a time in there and see if maybe it happens with a particular one.

Okay, now I'm even more confused.

It seems to have something to do with my XCOM.user file; when I pulled that out, the normal creatures started showing their pace properly, and when I've put it back in, they still do though, oddly, I now seem to have some duplicate entries when using the Encounter builder). The PCs, even though they use the XCOM setting, always behaved normally. The creatures specific to the XCOM.user file, on the other hand, still show the incorrect pace, and I can find nothing in that .user file that should be causing this.

Okay, its even more confusing than I thought; when I open a new creature file and set the type to one of my custom aliens, the pace doesn't even stay consistent from one time to the next; I've had Chysilid Zombies come up anywhere from Pace 3-5 (they're supposed to be 4).

Anyone feel like giving the datafile a quick lookover and see if you can figure out why this would be the case? I'm kind of baffled.

If you want to email it to me (zarlor@acm.org) or send me a dropbox link to it or something I can try and take a look. No guarantees I can figure anything out, mind you, but I can give it a shot.

All right, I've tried some experimentation, all the way up to uninstalling and reinstalling the whole program. And the result is bizarre.

After pulling the xcom.user file out and putting it back, the problems with other creatures paces went away. But the ones from inside of it are still having strange things happen; the Thin Men and Chrysilids are consistently shown as having a lower pace than they're set up for; some of the others have a bit more than they're supposed to (the Sectoid I just checked showed a pace of 7). And when I played with building a new creature off of the Chrysilid Zombie creature in the data file, I got three different results on three different tries: Pace 3, Pace 4 (what it should be) and Pace 5.

Anyone feel like looking over the data file and seeing if they can figure out what the problem is? I'm utterly stumped.

Sounds like it might be something Caped Crusader or Mathias would be able to determine better than I could, but I'm still willing to try (see post above yours).

What's really odd is that either this happened in the last update to the file I did (which mostly consisted of adding some equipment, weapons and armor) or some combination of that and the second-to-last update to HL (since I'm pretty sure everything was working right a while back, maybe as recently as two weeks ago).

I got it, but I won't really be able to take a close look at it until tomorrow but I'll see if anything jumps out at me.

Take your time; I have another month before I'll really need it again; I just don't want to add more material to it if its corrupted or something.
